Interim Directive Committee

Interim Directive Committee Members

To follow-up on the success of the 2003 WHMSI Conference, the participants committed themselves to continue the effort, which brought about the creation of the Interim Directive Committee. Since then, the Committee has been working on a Terms of Reference draft for WHMS and has elaborated its vision, mission and goals. It has also been a permanent link among countries and other collaborators interested in the progress of the initiative, encouraging the ample participation in its implementation around the hemisphere.

PURPOSE AND ORGANIZATION

  • It will provide follow-up to implementation of the action plan.
  • It will produce and distribute the minutes of meetings as timely as possible.
  • It will also be in charge of producing a report about the situation of the priorities identified and the tools available to address them.
  • It will be in charge of raising funds for future meetings and of developing a formula for the future of the initiative (i.e., to propose a mechanism for the establishment of a permanent forum, the directing entity and the follow-up of communications).
  • It should be pointed out that the representatives of the different countries were designated to become members of the Committee as individuals, not as country representatives. Hence, if a person resigns, the vacancy is not subjected to be filled up with another person of the same country. Instead, the representatives of the countries of that particular region will designate a new individual to fill up the place in the Committee.
